BRIAN THOMPSON
A passionate professional photographer
focused on creating images to be cherished for a lifetime
About Me
I'm a working photojournalist (30 years and counting!) for The Expositor, the Postmedia daily newspaper in Brantford, Ontario.
News photography is both a challenging and rewarding career. I have to think and react quickly to situations, be creative yet truthful in the images I make, and deal with lighting conditions which are less than ideal. Capturing the peak action of high school sports, or slice-of-life moments of people in our community, the audience for my work extends from within our coverage area, to across the country and around the world!
And of course, every once in a while some plum assignments come along, such as a Royal Visit, flying in a Canadian Forces CF-18 Hornet and one of only two Lancaster bombers in the world still flying, concerts with legendary acts like KISS, Aerosmith and the Dixie Chicks, or accompanying children with physical challenges, and sometimes terminal illness, on a one-day whirlwind trip to Disney World in Florida on a Sunshine Foundation "Dream Lift".
During my off-duty time, my gear gets little rest, as I enjoy shooting a variety of subjects, along with my wife Donna who has developed (pun intended!) a keen eye & love of photography over our 25 years together.
I have taught weekend photography workshops at Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant, and am currently the president of the Brant Camera Club.
I do have time for freelance work and private photography lessons. Let me put my years of experience to work for you!
And thanks for visting my site!
Cheers,
Brian
